This event, usually held the first night of the annual meeting, is designed to facilitate informal interactions between students attending the conference. Appetizers and limited bar services are offered. Check the meeting web page for more information. Sponsored by US-IALE.
The student-mentor lunch brings students and landscape ecology professionals together to discuss professional development issues in a small group setting. Both students and professionals sign up in advance for this event (through the online conference registration process), and indicate their desired future occupation (students) or current job (professionals): teaching faculty, research faculty, government research, government management, state or county agency, or non-profit organization. We will try to match students and professionals according to their professional aspirations. This is a free event, but registration is mandatory.
Every year, US-IALE student representatives plan a professional development workshop specifically aimed at students, post-docs, and young professionals. Check out the meeting web page for more details about this year's workshop. Access materials from past workshops.
Are you looking for somebody to share a room or a ride for the conference? Do you want to discuss professional issues? Visit the online student forum and share your thoughts and requests.

US-IALE's student activities are coordinated by the two student representatives. Have you considered becoming a student representative? Being a member of the executive committee allows you to meet many professionals in your field and gives you insights into the functioning of a national scientific organization. The two student representatives have overlapping two-year terms, with one position replaced each year. If you want to get involved or have questions, contact us!
